Today on the Rarified Heir Podcast we are presenting part two of our conversation with musician Lili Haydn. Now, if you haven’t listened to part one, let me just say that you should probably stop right here and check out last week’s episode. Lili was brutally honest and open about her years growing up in Los Angeles as the daughter of comedian and author Lotus Wienstock and David Jove who, while not a celebrity, was responsible for mass producing LSD in the 1960s, may or have been responsible for the Rolling Stones “Redlands’ bust in 1967 and quite obviously sent Joan Rivers death threats for backing out of writing the forward to his ex-wife’s book, The Lotus Position. With the angel figure in Lotus as a mother and a devil figure in David, Lili embraced both the light and the dark to become both a child actor and a child protégé on the violin. She is a Grammy award winner (and is currently up for her second award) with her group Opium Moon and has performed with a veritable who’s who in music. From Robert Plant and Jimmy Page to Herbie Hancock and Tom Petty to name just a few.
But on this episode, we explore something far deeper and far darker with Lili. We talk about murder and the very real possibility that her father David had something to do with the death of his creative partner in 1983. And no, you have not stumbled upon a true crime podcast because we talk about Lili’s film scoring and her spiritual outlook on life on this episode as well. But the story Lili tells us about a show called “New Wave Theater” and a musician / personality in Peter Ivers ultimately lead to tragedy is an unbelievable listen. Lili is open, frank and self-effacing when it comes to Ivers unsolved murder and the very real possibly that her father played a role in it. Thankfully we hear more about the beautiful energy and nurturing that her mother Lotus provided. It was Lotus who created the loving, spiritual and maternal love that calmed the familial insanity in Lili’s life. So sit back, regroup and listen to part two of the Rarified Heir Podcast with Lili Haydn.
