Today on the Rarified Heir Podcast we are talking to David Deluise, son of actor/comedian and sometime opera star Dom Deluise and actress Carol Arthur. I ask you: was there any other place to be in the 70s than working with Mel Brooks? Was there any other place in the 80s you would have rather been than working with Burt Reynolds? I think not and if David’s time with us shed light on those two larger than life icons, he goes on to talk about the laughter, the fun and the friendship Dom Deluise had in show business. We talk to David about everything from Dom’s early success on The Dean Martin Show which led to a variety show called The Dom Deluise Show that ultimately got him into some of the classic films of his era. Think of it : Blazing Saddles, Hot Stuff, The End, Cannonball Run I & II, Fatso, Silent Movie, History of the World Part 1, The Cheap Detective, The Muppet Movie and so many more. We also talk about Dom’s love of food – both cooking and eating – his triple threat talent and the free stuff. Definitely the free stuff – including the free food.
David experience growing up Deluise is on full display on this episode as is his own career started in acting – yes, he’s Jerry Russo from The Wizards of Waverly Place and directing shows like Lab Rats, The Thunderman’s and much more. We didn’t get to Stargate SG-1, Blossom or The Gilmore Girls. But we did get around to talking about the best way to approach a celebrity during a meal, Mr. T and his comic book he handed out to everyone as well as Mel Brooks quote about Young Frankenstein after a night out with his parents. Take a listen on the Rarified Heir Podcast.
